As mentioned, there are several types of balancing machines. Two prominent types are hard-bearing and soft-bearing machines. What differentiate these two machines are their suspensions. A hard-bearing machine performs balancing tests at a higher speed than the resonance frequency. This type of balancing equipment is great for use in a repair shop, for example, because it would not be used as frequently as in a production facility. The soft-bearing machine does the opposite and balances parts at a speed higher than the resonance frequency. This dynamic balancing machine is most useful in facilities with high-volume productions.
There are several other types of balancing equipment as well. A blade balancing machine, for example, is another type. This variation is used to test fans, propellers and other similar parts. There are also portable balancing machines. This type is used on parts that cannot be disassembled. So, rather than mounting the part to the balance machine, the opposite happens. This piece of balancing equipment is just as effective as its counterparts. Another unique type of balancing equipment is a static balancing machine. This machine is able to test balance with actually having to rotate the part. However, this type has limitations in regards to what parts it can measure, but makes up for those with speed and cost-effectiveness.
Testing balance is an important part of the manufacturing process. A part that is not balanced will destroy itself, which causes even greater issues for the consumer.
